Position Description

The position performs general accounting functions for multiple plants under Kinder Morgan’s Energy Transition Ventures (ETV). ETV is a new segment for Kinder Morgan and it focuses on acquiring and assimilating alternative energy producers into its portfolio. We offer a hybrid schedule (Monday-Wednesday in the office, Thursday-Friday remotely). We also offer a 9/80 Work Schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation for all the plants. Reconciliation includes understanding and clearing legacy balances from acquired entities and clearing them timely.
  • Month-End Closing, including Liability Accrual, assist with journal entries and draft variance explanations.
  • OPEX trend analysis on newly acquired plants. Using legacy financials and working with operations, understand the cost structured of the new operations and make applicable accruals during month-end.
  • Acquisition Assistance. Since acquisition is our growth model, will work with related accounting tasks such as Purchase Price Accounting analysis and Working Capital True Up.
  • Joint Venture Accounting Review. ETV has a JV and this position will work with the field on applicable accounting tasks, including review of the periodic Distribution calculation and monitoring the working capital of the JV.
  • Maintain SOX compliance and consolidate related documentation.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests.
  • Perform additional Ad Hoc duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Position Requirements/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years experience in an accounting-related position with strong knowledge of general accounting procedures
  • Must have strong computer skills, intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel is mandatory.

  • Must be self-motivated and detailed oriented with the ability to perform and meet deadlines.
  • Requires business writing & acumen in business writing.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules.
  • Overtime may be required during high-volume periods (e.g., during close).
  • Must complete and pass any requirements by local, state, or federal agencies and/or
  • Kinder Morgan-specific safety training as may be required at all Kinder Morgan locations.
  • Must pass a Kinder Morgan drug screen and background check prior to employment.
