Join our team of experts! As an Electrical Engineer, you will act as the primary technical partner between Powell project managers and our customers on all Powell projects. Our electrical engineers are the technical experts for Powell projects!
Key Responsibilities
To design and create Powell standard products, specifically Power Control Rooms, with reference to using customer specifications.
- Design and consult on complex jobs.
- Read and interpret customer job specifications.
- Order materials.
- Create drawings.
- Transmit drawings to production and customer.
- Interface with project management, customer, and production.
- Work leader responsibilities may include task assignment, performance feedback, on-the-job training, and directing lower-level engineering personnel to appropriate sources of information, products, vendors, etc.
Relationships
- Reports to Engineer Supervisor.
- Internal relationships include regular interaction: Engineering supervisors, project management, sales, engineering, and manufacturing.
- External relationships include regular interaction with customers and suppliers.
- Assist in the training of the lower levels of engineering.
Responsibilities, Skills, Experience, and Requirements
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in an Engineering role
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology
- Applicable computer skills using Word, Excel, Outlook, Lync
- Previous AutoCAD or drafting software skills preferred
- Develop Detailed Bills of material for Power Control Room using Agile, Oracle or other similar programs
- Ability to learn/use Primavera P6 to update project status and keep all assigned projects on schedule
- Ability to read customer specifications, compare to the quote and provide technical feedback to project management and the customer on differences
- Basic understanding to very proficient at job reviews (i.e., acquired knowledge of specs that Powell should take exception to and specs that require special attention; able to accurately interpret customer specs, etc.)
- Apply technical documents to develop building layouts, AC/DC panel board schedules, battery systems, and cable tray layouts using AutoCAD
- Apply conduit, wire, and breaker sizing per the NEC tables
- Meet all required NEC equipment spacing requirements for the PCR layout
- Able to apply NEC and various other codes as it applies to the design and energy efficiency of the PCR
- Basic to the thorough understanding of loop diagrams and relay panels in order to develop interconnect spreadsheets
- Apply cost-competitive techniques to develop the most cost-effective solution for the engineered-to-order product
- Coordination with Project Management throughout the project
- Constant contact with production to answer questions and provide clarification and/or authorization on design changes
- Follow standard engineering processes and timelines.
- Worked on Multiple Projects simultaneously and managed workload as per priority
- Available to analyze and answer technical questions from lower-level engineers
- Able to understand, interpret and troubleshoot most customers’ needs and problems
- Provide technical assistance to sales, engineering, and inspection on daily problems
- Assist with and solve problems of other production engineers on a daily basis.
- Check the completed jobs of other engineers
- Learn policies and procedures, work instructions, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations, and vendor products
Working Environment
The employee typically performs duties in a normal office environment. There will be some work in a shop environment and exposure to the elements of our shop. Additionally there may be some work performed in the field with exposure to construction sites or active customer facilities.
