Not your everyday company

Lemonade completely reinvented how insurance works. As a customer-centric tech company, we created an insurance experience that is smart, instant, and delightful.

At Lemonade, you’ll be working with a group of like-minded makers, who get a kick out of moving fast and delivering great products.

We surround ourselves with some of the smartest, most motivated, creative people who are filled with positive energy and good karma. Unlike most publicly traded companies, we’re nimble and efficient. We take pride in the fact that we still think and operate like a startup.

We don’t care much about titles and hierarchy and instead focus on innovation, bold moves, and challenging the status quo. We’re built as a lean, data-driven organization that relies on a common understating of objectives and goals to provide teams with autonomy and ownership.

We don’t like spending our days in meetings and we skip committees altogether. At Lemonade, there’s no such thing as going over someone’s head. We have zero tolerance for bureaucracy, office politics, and lean-back personalities.

As a Public Benefit Corporation and a certified B-Corp, we deliver environmental and social impact using our products and tech. Through our Giveback program, we partner with organizations such as the ACLU, New Story, The Humane Society, Malala Fund, American Red Cross, 360.org, charity: water, and dozens of others, and have donated millions towards reforestation, education, animal rights, LGBTQ+ causes, access to water, and more.

What you’re applying for

We’re looking for a seasoned executive with the proven ability to build a  world-class Insurance Product organization; extensive experience managing profitable, >$1bn, non-life personal lines businesses; and the skills to lead long-term strategic planning and execution.

The perfect candidate has a track record of building, training, and developing insurance product organizations—an experience that would readily translate to supporting and realizing Lemonade’s ambitious profitable growth plans across all product lines.

You know how to bring together stakeholders from across an organization to align with a long-term profitable growth strategy, and you pride yourself on having your finger on the pulse—from the highest level down to the smallest details.

You will lead our Insurance Product organization—and will work closely with C-level executives, as well as line and department management across all lines of business—on product design, as well as rate, non-rate,  and state management initiatives.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the design and ongoing development of our current and future  insurance products, bringing innovative methodologies, advanced technology, and creative, out-of-the-box thinking  to all aspects of our products’ profitability
  • Collaborate with Actuarial and Underwriting to lead the development and performance  of coverage, pricing levels, eligibility, and state-specific requirements across the organization
  • Set best-in-class structures and processes to develop  insurance product management across states and product lines and build an organization that can support fast, profitable growth

What you’ll need

  • 15+  years of non-life, personal lines insurance product, and state management experience in senior management positions, leading large teams at top-tier, national carriers
  • Prior experience managing large, countrywide, multi-product enhancement and development—including policy forms, risk segmentation, and risk selection.
  • Proven track record managing profitability in fast-growth lines of business (>$5b) and experience optimizing across product lines
  • Able to communicate complex concepts in a simple way
  • Highly analytical, with a knack for identifying trends, communicating results, and taking action
  • Comfortable with new technologies and solid experience simultaneously handling multiple, large-scale strategic P&L level initiatives
  • Natural team builder: passionate and hands-on  about finding the best talent and training, developing, and mentoring them with empathy, high EQ, and patience
  • Ability to work in an office environment
