Overview
Under the direction of the Land Manager, this position will oversee and manage an expansive acreage position.
Responsibilities
- Response interacts, and professionally represents Maverick with industry partners, sellers, investors, bankers, consultants, etc.
- Work and interact professionally with fellow employees
- Ability to manage negotiations of Confidentiality Agreements. Managing the executed Confidentiality Agreements
- Review agreements, contracts, regulations, etc. associated with potential acquisitions to concur the assumptions made in the economic model are correct and accurate
- Confirm that current operations and upside opportunities as defined in the economic model are allowed and/or permitted under applicable agreements, permits, and/or regulations
- Timely communication with geology, evaluation team, operations, land, and other departments with respect to issues involving acquisition targets and upside opportunities.
- Ensure all production operations in potential acquisitions are conducted in accordance with applicable rules, regulations, and permits
- Professionally participate in presentations to Executives describing potential deals
- Have the ability to negotiate and finalize Purchase and Sale agreements and confirm that all associated exhibits and schedules accurately reflect the assets being purchased
- Coordinate and finalize title and land due diligence efforts to confirm title prior to closing on an acquisition. Provide the bank with all necessary due diligence work
- Coordinate the organization, transportation, and integration of all files associated with the assets acquired
- Play an active role in the integration of acquired properties into the existing businesses
- Have a vast network of industry contacts to assist in targeting potential acquisition targets.
Qualifications
- Related Bachelor or higher degree (PLM or EM degree a plus) with 7+ years in-house experience required; MBA or JD preferred
- Prior due diligence experience related to the sale/purchases of oil & gas interests is required
- Solid understanding of US mineral and surface ownership principles including regulatory, title, and curative documents
- Broad-based knowledge of all facets of production and acquisition land work
- Familiar with staking and permitting wells, including, but not limited to BLM, State, and other issues related to drilling wells (Permian or EOR experience preferred)
- Understanding of and experience in oil & gas accounting, COPAS, and Property Administration a plus
- Computer literate with proven ability to utilize Microsoft Office products and familiarity with land system software
- Ability to professionally and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
