The Mundy Companies, a leader in the industrial maintenance, services, and construction fields, is currently hiring the following for a maintenance position in the Houston, Texas area:

PIPEFITTER

This is a 2-month to a potential long-term position working 40-60 hours per week. Successful candidates will have a minimum of three (3) years of continuous and current experience as a Pipefitter in petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment.  

Pipefitters install and repair high and low-pressure pipe systems used in the manufacturing generation of electricity, and in heating/cooling systems.  Pipefitters work from blueprints and drawings. 

They lay out the job and perform such tasks as measuring, marking, cutting, and threading pipe to connect pipe systems.  Pipefitters work with various piping materials and tools and must know the specific use of each. 

For example, gas and other chemicals require certain types of pipes and different types of seals and gaskets.  Different pipes require different tools for assembly.  The Pipefitter trade requires formal training to know local ordinances, state codes, and regulations regarding their work.   

Eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, and physical balance is important.  Pipefitters use many different materials and construction techniques, depending on the type of project.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Read and work from blueprints
  • Install and make minor revisions to the pre-fabricated pipe
  • Perform general piping work such as line breaking, installing blinds, gaskets, valves, couplings, and other fittings
  • Cuts or drills holes in walls to permit passage of pipes, using a pneumatic drill
  • Selects the specified type and size of pipe
  • Mounts pipe hangers and brackets to hold a pipe
  • May disassemble and remove the damaged or worn pipe
  • Perform other duties as required, such as working with screw pipe

The successful candidate will maintain a high degree of personal safety and environmental awareness at all times.  The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing is required.  All qualified applicants must possess the ability to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and other pre-qualifications as required.
