Job Description

The Recruiter/Employee Advocate Coordinator position reports to the Chief People Officer and is accountable for leading the recruiting and staffing needs of the company by identifying and securing top talent.

You will play a critical role in ensuring that we are hiring the best possible talent and achieving staffing objectives. You will develop, document, implement and train all stakeholders on the recruiting processes. The ideal candidate will have an employee engagement plan and you will conduct projects to increase employee involvement and motivation, particularly for new and second-change hires.

  • Establishes recruiting requirements by studying organization plans and objectives; meeting with managers to discuss needs
  • In collaboration with the Equity in Hiring team, you will design the onboarding program for all employees that solidifies a unified vision
  • Attracts applicants by placing job advertisements; contacting recruiters, using newsgroups and job sites, and external marketing, particularly in harder-to-hire positions
  • Screen and prepare candidate pipelines in a timely and consistent manner
  • Determines applicant qualifications by screening and verifying applicants; resume, work history, education, references, and comparing qualifications to job requirements
  • Communicate with the candidate to gather required documentation; transcripts and teaching experience to determine qualifications and salary
  • Set up interviews and locations, collect and maintain interview notes
  • Update and maintain notes in ATS; implement guidelines for others using ATS
  • Prepare clear decisive job descriptions; update current job descriptions on file
  • Build partner relationships with colleges and other recruiting resources
  • Partner with an organization-wide leadership team to drive recruiting efforts
  • Research, schedule and attend and/or coordinate relevant job fairs and recruitment events in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay Areas
  • Notify HR of needed jail clearances
  • Improves organization attractiveness by recommending new policies and practices; monitoring job offers and compensation practices; emphasizing benefits and perks
  • Collaborate with the Training Manager to develop, implement and maintain processes
  • Handles sensitive and confidential employee information
  • Assist with department projects and organization-wide initiatives as needed
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations
  • Stays up to date on developments in employment law and training trends and methods
  • Provide excellent customer service to all company employees and managers. Assist in helping with all employee questions or concerns for all aspects of the Human Resource function, and other functions as they come up
  • Serve as an employee advocate for concerns that focus on people
  • Work with the Learning and Development team on assessing new hires, discipline, and termination data to develop training for all stakeholders to develop best-in-practice processes for talent development
  • Prepare monthly reports for leadership meetings (new hires, job postings, terminations, credentials)
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Technologically savvy with various ATS systems and is able to learn programs and technological tools, such as video cameras, voice recordings, webinars, etc
  • Has an interest in recruiting and new employee retention and a willingness to try new things
  • Ability to maintain strong and appropriate boundaries with personal identifying information when interacting with employees, applicants, students, and partners
  • Exceptional written communication skills; ability to express complex ideas with clarity and precision in written documents
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Advanced problem-solving skills; tactfully address and resolve questions/concerns
  • Advanced proficiency in Zoom, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and databases
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality and take all precautions when handling sensitive information


  • Two to three years of experience in Human Resources; a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Frequent talking and hearing conversations
  • Long periods of walking, sitting at a desk and/or computer station
  • Lifting items that weigh up to 25 lbs.; reaching, bending, carrying, and stooping within the daily routine of tasks and activities


This position is contingent upon:

  • Satisfactory results of a Live Scan (criminal background investigation)
  • Submitting proof of clear TB results. Results dated within 60 days prior to the hire date are acceptable


  • Moderate to the high noise level
  • The work environment varies from site to site
  • Some personal safety risks working in underserved communities
  • Hybrid, must live in Northern or Southern California where Five Keys operates
  • Must be willing to travel throughout the area to community sites and state-wide to various locations or meetings as needed
  • Up to 20% travel to Five Keys locations throughout California as needed
