About Us

The New American Academy Charter School (TNAACS) was founded in 2013 to transform elementary education through our innovative school model. Serving students in grades K through 5, each component of TNAACS is designed to support both the student and the teacher.

The TNAACS model is predicated on the belief that student achievement is directly tied to the quality of instruction and our unique model enables us to attract, develop and retain high-quality educators.

Each teacher at TNAACS is part of a grade-level teaching team responsible for a cohort of students. Our teachers participate in a three-year, k-2, or 3-5 looping cycle. Each of the loops is supported by a Director of Teaching and Learning that provides embedded professional development and support.

In addition, TNAACS has a mastery-based career ladder that offers opportunities for professional growth and achievement and professionalizes the role of the teacher in our community.

Responsibilities:

The teaching assistant’s primary responsibility is to provide instructional support. In addition, teaching assistants provide coverage for K-5 classes as well as operations staff on a periodic basis.

A Teaching Assistant position is a full-time position at the New American Academy Charter School. They also support arrival, dismissal, breakfast, lunch, and recess. The teaching assistant’s responsibilities fall into two categories:

Culture

  • Embody, support, and maintain the school’s mission, purpose, and core values.
  • Assume best intentions and be direct with others.

Support

  • Provide a high level of instructional support.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing pedagogical practice by participating in various training and professional development
  • Develop long and short-term goals to grow in their position.
  • Effectively provide coverage to classes and groups of students.
  • Effectively collaborate with other members of the school community.
  • Assist with school-wide programs and initiatives.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Consistently meet all professional responsibilities

  • Utilize provided technology.
  • Effectively and consistently communicates with all necessary stakeholders in a timely manner.

Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Proficient computer skills including Gmail, Word, Google Workspace
  • Strong classroom management skills rooted in positive discipline and responsive classroom practices
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Excellent communication/ interpersonal skills as well as a desire to collaborate with various stakeholders to foster strong school community partnerships
  • Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a can-do attitude
  • Ability to lift 10lbs and stand for long periods

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 – $49,000.00 per year
